After working as an engineer in industry for many years, Layne moved to Papua New Guinea to set up off grid solar systems in the jungle. Later he returned to Santa Barbara and restored numerous Airstreams, RVs and boats for himself and for friends. Eventually through word of mouth enough people wanted him to repair, maintain, or outfit their pleasure craft that it became his full time occupation, and he absolutely loves to do it.
